Adversity — and wait for it oh, ‘safety and security’ loving generation — doesn’t kill you if you embrace the experience and let it make you stronger and smarter. And, adversity is a fact of life so, you might as well embrace it when it comes.
My children are learning valuable and maturing life lessons.
They are learning to be patient and gracious. They are learning that to live your authentic self, you will face adverse reactions from other people and they’re learning how to cope with that.
My daughter just removed herself from a potential romantic relationship because she quickly recognized that the young man was not able to receive her authentically. She was able to identify it, because her home experience is that of authenticity. She saved herself, and the young man, a lot of heartache.
They’re learning to live in reality and not in the disappointment of unmet expectations. You can want loved ones to be your support system, but when they can’t and/or aren’t, my kids are learning how to look for…
